20 Ways Pitch

Our friend Peter Kershaw from Duchy Parade films has produced yet another fantastic film “20 Ways” and is now seeking support to complete post-production. In his own words “20 Ways is a comic satire, a metaphor that uses drama, humor and music to explore the question of immigration.” Watch this video to see Peter’s pitch:

The pitch was produced by NMFR at Santa Fe Community College and edited by Gene Mederos. Cinematography by Patrick Reid

Coins & Nooses goes live!

March 2010 sees the launch of the ‘Last Coiner’ movie website and game in the run up to production starting on this feature film project from Duchy Parade Films. The film will follow the lives and fortunes of the Yorkshire Coiners in a ‘Western’ style story based on real events. Unlike most period dramas, this tale follows the poorer members of society as they struggle in a bleak North Yorkshire setting.

The Coins & Nooses game can be accessed through the movie website and will give you snippets of historical information, interviews and production notes as you navigate the Snakes & Ladders style board. See how many counterfeit coins you can collect before reaching square 100 but don’t get caught red-handed by the excise man or you’ll surely hang by the neck!

Be sure to enter your name and email address to enter the high score table, updated regularly on the Last Coiner Movie blog here.

Cinema of Horror

Stardom beckoned and we answered the call as film director Peter Kershaw invited us to bring our thespian talents to the Zavvi store. There we performed as extras in his soon to be released short film, “Cinema of Horror”. It looks like we have made the final cut though either way we can’t wait to see the full feature! Any film that mixes goths with bhangra dancing is certain to be interesting 🙂

The sweet smell of success

Commissioned by The British Library and Harewood House for the Wilberforce 2007 project, this online graphic novel and printed booklet was a collaboration with pupils of Easingwold School. The aim was to promote awareness of the abolition of the slave trade in Britain in the 1800s.

The genuine article

Duchy Parade Films required a selection of animations to tie in with their graphic novel and film project, The Last Coiner. We created five sequences which were edited into a ‘making of’ documentary. This video is being used to attract funding for the next phase of the project and was viewed at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year!
